1. Who We Are
iBeryl is operated by a French micro-entreprise based in Montpellier, France. We provide a video speed-dating platform designed to help people make meaningful connections through real-time video Rooms.
As the data controller, we determine the purposes and means of processing your personal data. If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us through the Help section.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address, self-declared gender, date of birth, and a verification photo. Your self-declared gender is used solely for Room eligibility and feature access — iBeryl does not verify gender identity.
2.2 Verification Photo
We store the photo you submit during account verification. This photo is used to confirm you are a real person and to reduce abuse on the platform. Only the signup verification photo is stored. We do not generate or store biometric templates or face embeddings from your photo.
2.3 What We Do Not Collect
- No call recordings — iBeryl does not record video or audio from your dates.
- No conversation history — There is no retrievable chat history stored on our servers.
We may process transient technical data during call delivery for service quality and security purposes, but this data is not retained as content.
2.3.1 Moderation exception
Exception for reports: when you submit a moderation report against another user, iBeryl may capture and retain a limited amount of contextual content needed to investigate the report. This may include the most recent 200 chat messages from the relevant session and a one-time screenshot of each participant's video frame where technically feasible. These items are collected solely for investigation, moderation, and enforcement purposes and are accessible only to authorized moderation personnel.
Lawful basis: processing is carried out on the grounds of iBeryl's legitimate interests in maintaining user safety and preventing abuse, and where applicable to comply with legal obligations.
2.4 Usage and Technical Data
We collect standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, device information, and interaction logs (e.g., Rooms joined, dates attended) to operate and improve the service.
